Spaniard End is an unusual cul-de-sac to the north of Hampstead Heath, an almost rural setting with a number of award winning, architect designed modern houses.
Planning was achieved in this recently designated Conservation Area to demolish the existing house and replace it with a larger modern design for a single family home.
The site sits on the edge of Hampstead Heath requiring a restrained approach to minimise its impact on the public facility. The building utilises a sculpted brick skin to both shield and frame views of the Heath. This encloses a light and airy perforate building interior arranged over split levels that connect with the garden landscape. The rooms are directed around glimpsed views of trees, the sky and gardens.
