The development is part of the wider master-plan for Hale Village, the client being a joint venture combining the land owner with a developer. PKS was appointed as part of a team of architects designing individual buildings within the master-plan and producing documentation leading to a planning application.
The two Pavilion buildings face the Lea Valley Park on the eastern boundary of the site. These consist of eight floors of private apartments for sale, 64 units in total. The development offered excellent views of the Lea Valley and the building form was developed to provide the maximum views for the residents. The buildings were proposed to be located on a podium structure incorporating a carpark and service facilities. The design took particular care over space making between the buildings and how the architecture addressed the public realm.
The proposal was granted planning permission in the first part of 2008 and later executed in a modified form after the sale of the site to another developer.
